Teat and Medication?

My dad swears by not drinking tea at LEAST 30 mins prior and 30 mins after taking medication. He says that tea is permeable and the liquids would hold your attention the active ingredients out of the pills and be useless. Is this true in any way/shape/form?
--He take pills for diabetes, I take birth control pills. Does tea affect these or any other medicine in any road?
--I usually drink Chinese green tea (Jasmine)
All my doctors and pharmacists have said never to drink be grapefruit juice. It will build you very sick. I accidentally did it once, and very soon they put it on most label's.
But 100% of any Doctor or nurse will say help yourself to your medications next to water.
Food cause the absorption rate to be slower and perchance less effectual. As long as it isn't grapefruit juice, I guess you'll be fine, or pharmacists would tell us. Good luck.
Surely you own something better to worry going on for! Enjoy your tea.
